Meet the Aqua Pontoons Family

In this week blog I wanted to officially introduce myself Simon Dyer and my wife Mel Dyer and give you an insight as to what roles we play in the day to day operations of Aqua Pontoons and Aqua Construction. For those that don’t know our brands, Aqua Pontoons handles all aspects of new pontoon, jetties, boat lifts and jet ski dock sales. Aqua Construction handle all maintenance on pontoons, marinas & boat lifts.

Simon Dyer: I spend most of my days travelling from the Tweed to Sunshine Coast and everywhere in-between meeting face to face with clients to carry out site inspections and quotes. I am a big believer in getting the job done right the first time and my staff are of the same opinion, thats why when we install our pontoons we rarely ever need to go back to site a second time. I take every aspect of the my business very seriously and professionally and treat every job as if it were my own.

In the day to day operations I handle most aspects of material ordering through to engineering. The engineering component in our line of work is the single most important part, getting dimensions, locations and construction information right in this document is paramount as it flows on through the whole design, build and install process and any errors are generally amplified when the reach the construction phase and can cause mass disruption to the installation. With this always on my mind and being the business owner like many of you would know time is money and at Aqua we want to deliver you a premium product at an affordable price.

A little background on my working career, I started out in the construction industry and completed my apprenticeship at the age of 18 (Qualified Carpenter) after many years in that game I moved over to the marine sector where I worked for years as an installer and foreman and then later on carried senior management roles in 2 big based Australian marine companies. Over the years I have installed 100s of marinas and pontoons throughout Australia and internationally.

Mel Dyer: Mel for years has worked in the banking and financial sectors working with some of the big named banks like COMM Bank and leading Gold Coast financial institutions. Mel works daily with all deposits, progress and final payments making sure of a smooth day to day financial operation of the business. Mel also handles the very important part of the pontoon process which is approvals, she deals direct with all the local authorities like GCCC and GCWA to ensure a 100% legal structure is being installed on every clients property. This process blends in closely with Simon and the drafting/engineering component of the process as all certified drawings are supplied directly to council for review and approval.
